C&H Closure Plan Comment Period Ends

Notice of Public Input for Conceptual Closure Plan for Waste Storage Ponds

The Division of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is providing the public with an opportunity to submit input on the conceptual closure plan of waste storage ponds for C&H Hog Farm. Consistent with the agreement reached between the State and the farm owners, DEQ has the responsibility to undertake the activities required for closure of the liquid animal waste storage ponds on-site. These pond-closure activities will be initiated by DEQ-hired contractors upon certification that the owners have fully ceased operations and conducted a final washdown of the buildings. Upon conclusion of the public-input process, the closure plan will be finalized, and procurement of a qualified contractor will be initiated.
