As a result of continuing public concerns about the threat to the Buffalo National River posed by C&H Hog Farms, on September 30, 2016 Governor Asa Hutchinson announced the creation of the Beautiful Buffalo River Initiative and the Buffalo River Action Committee, comprised of heads of 5 state agencies, to explore ways to provide better protection to the river. Governor Hutchinson said he had “received more letters and calls about the Buffalo than any other issue since taking office”. One component of the BBRI is the Watershed Management Plan.
